i am trying to convince my mother that skate shoes have foot support? i am wondering if they actually do, or am i just fighting for nothing. i figure they would because skateboarding revolves around your feet so why would they desgine shoes that do not support your feet.
please help me with this.
thankyou,
michael

If you mean the kind of foot support needed for running, then no, they do not offer good support for your feet, or perhaps more importantly your knees. Keep in mind that when skateboarding, your feet are mostly planted on your board, with only occasional impact. When running, each foot is bearing the full weight of your body impact several times in a row for a long period of time. I have run in shoes not designed for running and used to wear skate shoes all the time; it is a fast track to sore joints, shin splints, and blisters. It is worth it if you are serious about running to get some good running shoes that you can dedicate just for running.

yeah they do because doing tricks plus the roughness
of the grip tape can scrape regular sneakers which lowers
    the soles

usuall vulcanized skate shoes are good for skating
    like etnies and vans
some are technically design to last longer when you skate

so yeah if they can handle rough grip tape and months
of skating they can support your feet pretty well.

if your thinking about running with them, they probably arent the best. you should go to a local shoe store and ask the clerk about some good shoes.
