Are skateboarding shoes considered to be athletic shoes?

I just got hired at Macy’s as a support associate. The dress code says that I can wear athletic shoes.

yeh I think in your case they would be but like in terms of shoes that should be worn during sport (aside from skating) i think you should stick to runners
but I’m sure they wont have a problem with you working in skate shoes

    just dont where shitty shoes that make you look bad….and people in general dont like skaters so I probably just would wear somthing else

    don’t wear, like, slip on checkered vans. or anything with crazy colors.

    Well, yes, at Macy’s it’s fine, but if you were thinking about running with them, then NO! Believe me when I say, don’t try running with shoes like DC’s! They slow you down so much, and hurt if you run to much with them on.

    No. Skateboarding shoes are considered casual/streetshoes. It’s difficult to find “dress shoes” for guys.
