How many layers of wood they used, the more ply, the stronger. it also depends on the type of wood used. thats why the more expensive boards are expensive…they use about 7-8 ply of maple, therefore it lasts for a long time.

Ply means 'per layer' which relates to the thickness of the board or of a toilet rolls paper. It means is 7 or 8 layers thicj which is good quality.

I would imagine it is how many plys of wood there are. Just like plywood, there are different layers, plys, of wood. 7 and 8 is a lot of plys.

most skate boards are made out of different types of ply wood layered together. All that means is that there are 7 layers or 8 layers of that type of plywood.

skate board decks are made with thin veneers of wood glued together, like plywood. (wood-glue-wood-glue…) so 7ply has 7strips of wood and 8ply has 8. look at the edge and count…

This number tells you how many layers of whatever your skateboard is made of is in the deck. The higher the number, the thicker your skateboard deck is going to be. A thicker skateboard will be more durable, but less maneuverable and vice-versa. It also depends on what kind of skateboarder you are.
