do u have to like get a business degree in college? and what is the likeliness of the skate shop actually staying in business.. becase im a skater and i want the career for the rest of my life to be involved with skating. and is it big bucks for owning your own skate shop? the money dont really matter, but i do want to have enough to raise a family and get by the bills and everything…thanks guys
well 1st you need enough to rent a space and buy all the decks and accessories and supplies……..before even all of that……are there alot of skaters in the area???? if not you won't make any money….you know what i mean??? The only thing you will need after all of that is a business license ffrom your city and you are all set…….and you also need to hire some people unless you will be there all of the time…………

If you want a skateboard, where do you go? Do you go to a skateboard shop, check it all out, and then buy on-line? Lots of people do, and the shop, which has stock, a building, doesn't get the sale. They may get your repair business, but that won't keep you afloat.
Unless you're going to be in high end skateboards with a web presence and sponsor technical sessions, it will be hard to make it. If you can carry a unique brand that isn't covered by the big box stores, that will help you to be successful.
You don't need a business degree (Bill Gates did not finish his studies), but you need some basic business acumen.
Maybe you can get an engineering degree and design new skateboards? How cool is that?

what ever you do, make sure to protect your business from your own employees. they will steal from you and sometimes file false claims against you. check out this site: http://www.confidentialclaim.org
