I've had a skateboard since i was 7yrs old and i'm thirteen now. I found it again and really wanted to skateboard, but i've been practising ollying for a while now (since june last year)on grass, not that much though, but i just can't seem to. Am i doing anything wrong? Do i need a good skatebaord, and how long did it take you to olly? Any other info would be great too.
Slam your back foot down on the tail of your skateboard as hard as you can. At that moment, you want to also jump into the air, off of your back foot. This part is key, and takes practice. The trick is in getting your timing right. You want to slap the skateboard’s tail down, and as it hits the ground, jump off of that foot into the air. Make sure to pull that back foot high into the air. It's a quick, snapping motion.
Don't practice on the grass anywhere harder would be better you can ever do it on carpet I do all the time. Your board shouldn't matter for doing ollies so you're probably okay there, might want something better in the near future not sure what you got, probably a toys r us board or something
it's all good. It took me about a week to learn it but I REALLY wanted to learn it back in like 1992. Just keep practicing and you'll get it. I posted a link to a pic of how your front foot needs to look as you drag it up on the board, hope this all helps, good luck.

do you know how to do it? if so don't do it on the grass. get some protection gear, wear it, and practice on the pavement. it'll take a pretty good while before you can get them right. k?

Get a "beginning" good board like a World Industries or somthing. It took me about 3 months with a World Industries board.

Take your mattress off your bed and practice on that when your parents are out, you will find its springyness helpful and its soft if you fall.
Remember back foot down hard, front foot forward and up while bending your back leg into yourself. You will get it!
