Because it's a lot easier to get close to the skateboarder whilst also getting both the skater and the board in shot. Looks a whole lot nicer than the stock lens also!

I wish I could say I have seen a few. haha. But I’ve only seen parts of ones over the years, and only one full one that I can think of. Which is called “It’s Time” by Circa. It was really awesome though how it came with a Thrasher or Transworld mag I bought a couple years ago. And it’s a good video with good music to go along with the skating.
If anything, I’d like to see some old school skate videos from the early 90’s and 80’s. I also would like to see the ones you mentioned, not to mention the Zero videos. They’re one of my favorite skate teams and companies.

I also would want the camcorder to be lightweight for when I am recording and under $230.
Getting a camcorder that is lightweight is not always the best. That means it can be unstable and your picture is not good quality. Invest in a decent tripod to help you out. maybe even search youtube on how to build a homemade steadicam. But as far as camcorders go I own a panasonic pvgs320. It takes photo and video. about 300 dollars i assume. This camcorder is very nice because it shoots in 3ccd instead of only one ccd. The reason why 3ccd is better is because instead of having one chip process all the colors this camcorder has 3 to process the colors (one for red one for green one for blue). So camcorders that shoot 3ccd will have more vibrant color and excelent picture. I have made many snowboard videos with this camcorder and the quality is great. one thing is when dealing with snowboarding and skate vids you need to invest in a wide angle lense. check my youtube account and watch backyard rail sesh. i made that snowboard vid on the pvgs320

You could get a Fisheye lens adapter. A Fisheye lens is an extremely wide-angle lens, so wide that it gives you that round look on the side. It’s used a lot on skate videos. Just find out the lens diameter of your camcorder (ex:52mm, 62mm, etc) and buy the appropriate fisheye lens adapter.
